DEPARTMENT  of  PHYSICAL  EDUCATION

 

Netherhall has been designated a Specialist Sports College since September 2003.  This is a well-established department with a very strong commitment to extra-curricular activities and has been awarded Sportsmark.

 

Teams currently run are: 

 

GIRLS              Netball, Rounders, Hockey, Tag Rugby

BOYS              Cricket, Basketball

BOTH              Athletics, Cross Country, Orienteering, Swimming, Tennis, Football, Rugby U & L

 

We also run after school clubs in Gymnastics, Aerobics, Dance, and Trampolining.  This has produced many successes but also involves a heavy commitment time wise.  All members of staff regularly attend INSET and moderation courses.  The department believes in educating pupils to lead active and healthy lifestyles for life.

National Curriculum

 

KS3:    Games, Gymnastics, Athletics, Dance, Swimming, Outdoor Activities
Years 7, 8 and 9 = 3 x 50 minutes
Most classes are mixed gender, classes are mainly mixed ability

KS4:    Games, Athletics, Gymnastics, Dance, Outdoor Activities, JSLA

Years 10 and 11 = 3 x 50 minutes
Some times single sex, sometimes mixed depending on activity and timetabling

KS5:    CSLA
            Year 12 = 2 x 50 minutes core PE

Resources

 

The department has invested heavily in new resources this year and is now well equipped for all activities. 

The school has been mapped for orienteering.
